Brooklyn’s own JOURDEN (Jourden Cox) pulled up to The Punchline Academy with something to say with a freestyle!

Born and raised in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, Jourden is a rapper, singer, songwriter and producer whose sound blends classic hip hop, neo-soul, alternative R&B and Caribbean influences. Her style has drawn comparisons to the hip-hop/soul tradition of artists like Lauryn Hill and Erykah Badu, while Jourden has also cited The Notorious B.I.G., OutKast and A Tribe Called Quest among her influences.

Jourden first gained wider attention with records like “Flow” and “Coulda Been,” before releasing her Straight, No Chas* EP through RCA Records in 2024. She’s currently affiliated with MBK Entertainment/RCA Records.

Now she’s back with her new 2026 project, A Tree Grows In Brooklyn, featuring appearances from Queen Naija and Theron Thomas, plus production from Hit-Boy, Cardo and more.

Jourden stopped by The Punchline Academy to talk about the new music and what’s next but you already know we couldn’t let a Brooklyn MC leave without touching the mic.

She stepped up and DROPPED STRAIGHT BARS.

HOW DID JOURDEN DO⁉️ Rate the freestyle in the comments!

Da Inphamus Amadeuz Reunites DAARMY97 for New Single “Henny Astrology”

The Army Is Back Outside

Da Inphamus Amadeuz is bringing the crew together for his new single “Henny Astrology,” featuring DAARMY97 members Tahmell, Rezen, Rah Tha Ruler and Shortee Sha.

The record brings four different personalities together under the DAARMY97 banner, continuing a musical relationship that has been developing for years. Rather than relying on one sound, “Henny Astrology” gives each MC room to bring their own approach while maintaining the chemistry of a crew record.

A Lineup Built for Bars

Tahmell, the son of hip hop icon Rakim, has steadily created his own identity as an MC instead of simply leaning on his family legacy. He has appeared throughout Da Inphamus Amadeuz’s catalog, including The Punchline Playbook: Lesson 1, where he contributed to records like “Another Day,” “Dope Spot” and “Air Traffic Control” featuring Canibus. Dainphamusamadeuz

Shortee Sha has become another consistent collaborator. His résumé with Amadeuz and DAARMY97 includes the 2024 EP A Letter To U, while his recent run includes “My Brother’s Keeper” and the new single “Posted On The Block.” Apple Music – Web Player

Rah Tha Ruler has also been putting together a serious run. From “ICU” and “New York Summer” to “Return Of An Outlaw,” Rah continues developing his catalog while remaining a key piece of the DAARMY97 sound. Apple Music – Web Player

Rezen brings another element to the crew and previously appeared alongside Shortee Sha and Amadeuz on “Get It How You Live It” and “No Time For Pretending.” Apple Music – Web Player

Da Inphamus Amadeuz Keeps Building

At the center is Da Inphamus Amadeuz, wearing multiple hats as an artist, producer, DJ, filmmaker and host of The Punchline Academy on Shade 45. His production résumé includes work with Styles P, Kurupt, G. Dep and more, while his current run continues building toward The Punchline Playbook: Lesson 2. Dainphamusamadeuz

With “Henny Astrology,” DAARMY97 is back together—and everybody came to rap.

The Punchline Academy Brings the Lyric League Series to Houston

Houston, We Got Bars

The Punchline Academy continued its Texas takeover with a brand-new edition of the Lyric League Series: Houston, connecting with DJ II D.E.E.P at Exotic Pop to bring together some of the city’s top spitters for a serious display of Texas lyricism.

The mission was simple: pull up in Houston, find the MCs who really represent the city, turn the cameras on and let the bars speak.

It’s the same formula that has taken the Lyric League Series across the country, but Houston brings an energy and history all its own.

A City That Changed Hip Hop

Houston’s contribution to hip hop runs deep. The Geto Boys and Rap-A-Lot Records helped establish the city as a major force in Southern rap, while DJ Screw created the chopped-and-screwed sound that would become one of Houston’s most influential contributions to music. (Texas State Historical Association)

Screw’s legendary mixtapes also became showcases for Houston MCs including Lil’ Keke, Fat Pat, Big Moe, HAWK and ESG, helping build the Screwed Up Click and a culture centered around freestyling, neighborhood representation and independence. (UH Libraries Exhibits)

Later generations including Scarface, Z-Ro, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Mike Jones and Chamillionaire helped take that Houston identity worldwide. (Texas Defined)

That history made Houston a perfect destination for the Lyric League.

The Punchline Academy Keeps Moving

Hosted by Da Inphamus Amadeuz, the Lyric League Series was created around the idea of “bringing the radio to the streets.” Instead of waiting for artists to enter a traditional studio, The Punchline Academy travels directly into different cities and neighborhoods to showcase their talent and identity. (The Punchline Academy)

The Houston edition continues a nationwide run that has already taken the series through New York, Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan, California, Texas and more.

With The Punchline Academy surpassing 100 million views across all platforms, the movement continues getting bigger.

This time, DJ II D.E.E.P, Exotic Pop and Houston’s spitters were up next.

H-Town showed up. The Lyric League cameras were rolling. And the bars did the rest.

Only Hustlers Inspire Others

Da Inphamus Amadeuz and Copywrite are joining forces again for the upcoming single “O.H.I.O (Only Hustlers Inspire Others),” featuring The Catalyst

Driven by a smooth, jazzy hip hop feel, “O.H.I.O” combines soulful production with the type of lyricism fans expect when these MCs get behind the microphone. More importantly, the record serves as a tribute to Ohio, with Copywrite putting on for the state that helped shape his career.

The record arrives after Amadeuz and Copywrite previously connected on “Copy My Style,” a hard-hitting collaboration centered around originality, punchlines and straight bars.

Copywrite Puts on for Ohio

A Columbus native, Copywrite has spent more than two decades building a reputation as one of underground hip hop’s sharpest pens. His history includes the influential MHz Legacy crew, while his battle-tested delivery, wordplay and punchlines have earned him respect throughout the underground.

On “O.H.I.O,” that hometown connection takes center stage as Copywrite delivers a lyrical tribute to the place that raised him.

The Catalyst Steps Up

The Catalyst is another MC representing Ohio’s lyrical movement. Punchline Academy fans may recognize him from the Columbus Lyric League Series, where his performance emerged as one of the cypher’s fan favorites alongside Illogic and Mero.

Behind it all is Da Inphamus Amadeuz, the artist, producer and Shade 45 personality whose catalog includes work with Styles P, Kurupt, G. Dep and others.

“O.H.I.O” brings all three worlds together: Amadeuz’s production and vision, Copywrite’s veteran pen and The Catalyst’s emerging energy.

The pre-save is officially open now. Fans who want to support the record early can pre-save “O.H.I.O (Only Hustlers Inspire Others)” today and have it automatically added to their library when it drops.

Ohio stand up. This one is for the hustlers.

The Lyric League Series went back to The Bronx for a special edition, and this time we linked with one of Brooklyn’s hottest young crews — Delivery Boys Freestyle

The Brooklyn collective pulled up and didn’t play any games once the beat dropped. Known for their chemistry, personality and high-energy approach, Delivery Boys have been building momentum through their music, freestyles and live performances while carving out their own lane in New York’s new generation of hip hop.

For this special edition, they stepped into the Lyric League over a brand-new original beat produced by Da Inphamus Amadeuz and everybody came ready to work.

Da Inphamus Amadeu* has been putting in work on both sides of the culture for years. Beyond hosting The Punchline Academy on SiriusXM’s Shade 45, Inph is an artist, DJ, filmmaker and producer whose production credits include records with Styles P, G. Dep, Canibus, Ras Kass & More!. Behind the camera, he has amassed 175+ directorial credits and directed Prodigy of Mobb Deep’s final music video, “Don’t Test My Crown.”

Now, through the Lyric League Series, Amadeuz is taking that experience directly to the streets, traveling city to city, producing original beats and creating a platform where established names and emerging MCs can get on the same playing field and just rap.

This time it was BROOKLYN TO THE BRONX. DELIVERY BOYS x LYRIC LEAGUE. 🔥🔥

THE PUNCHLINE ACADEMY ANNOUNCES NEXT LEG OF NATIONWIDE TOUR

The Lyric League Series Hits the Road Again

The Punchline Academy is hitting the road again with another major run of dates, bringing the Lyric League Series to new cities while continuing one of its biggest years yet.

Led by Da Inphamus Amadeuz, the fall run kicks off September 26 at the Hudson River Hip Hop Festival in Newburgh, New York, before heading to Philadelphia on October 1 and Cincinnati on October 2. The tour then heads to Detroit for October 4 and October 5, with additional stops including Louisville, Kentucky and Green Bay, Wisconsin.

The Punchline Academy is hitting the road again with another major run of dates, bringing the Lyric League Series to new cities while continuing one of its biggest years yet.

The Lyric League Series has become one of The Punchline Academy’s signature properties by taking the radio directly into communities and putting the focus back on raw lyricism. The series has surpassed 50 million social views, while The Punchline Academy as a whole has crossed 100 million views across platforms. (The Punchline Academy)

The Punchline Academy x Red Bull

One of the biggest highlights of the upcoming run happens Monday, October 5, when The Punchline Academy connects with Red Bull in Detroit for a special Lyric League Series cypher.

The collaboration marks another major moment for a series that has already traveled across the country, spotlighting established names alongside hungry local MCs.

Lesson 2 Is Coming

The tour also leads directly into the release of The Punchline Playbook: Lesson 2 on Friday, October 23.

The upcoming Punchline Academy album continues the formula established with Lesson 1: respected lyricists, gritty production and an emphasis on bars. The new project features appearances from Ras Kass, E.D.I. Mean, G. Dep, Copywrite and more.

The rollout is already underway with Da Inphamus Amadeuz’s new single “Posted On The Block” featuring Shortee Sha and Sos Bishop. (Dain Pham Usama Deuz)

Between Shade 45, nationwide cyphers, original music, interviews and live events, The Punchline Academy continues expanding far beyond the radio studio.

New cities. New spitters. New album. Same mission: keep real hip hop moving forward.

The Road to The Punchline Playbook: Lesson 2 Begins

Da Inphamus Amadeuz is back with another dose of gritty New York hip hop on his new single “Posted On The Block,” featuring Shortee Sha and Sos Bishop.

Built around that raw boom bap foundation, “Posted On The Block” puts the focus where it belongs—hard drums, street energy and straight bars. Shortee Sha and Sos Bishop bring two different styles to the record, attacking the production with the hunger and authenticity that have become trademarks of music coming from The Punchline Academy camp.

The single is part of the official rollout for the next The Punchline Academy album, The Punchline Playbook: Lesson 2, scheduled to arrive Friday, October 23.

The Next Lesson Is Coming

Lesson 2 follows 2025’s The Punchline Playbook: Lesson 1, which was fully produced by Da Inphamus Amadeuz and featured appearances from Onyx, Styles P, G. Dep, Canibus, Tahmell and more. (UndergroundHipHopBlog.com)

That first project established the formula: elite lyricists over production rooted in traditional boom bap. “Posted On The Block” shows that the next chapter isn’t moving away from that foundation.

It’s doubling down on it.

Da Inphamus Amadeuz Keeps Building

As an artist, producer, DJ, filmmaker and entrepreneur, Da Inphamus Amadeuz continues building on both sides of the microphone. His production catalog includes collaborations with artists including Styles P, Kurupt and G. Dep, while releases like “Copy My Style” with Copywrite and “Return Of An Outlaw” featuring E.D.I. Mean, Mack Mason and Rah Tha Ruler have continued his 2026 run. (dainphsmusamadeuz)

He’s also the host of The Punchline Academy on Shade 45, a platform that has now surpassed 100 million views across all platforms through interviews, freestyles, the Lyric League Series and original music. (The Punchline Academy)

With “Posted On The Block,” the next lesson has officially started.

The Punchline Playbook: Lesson 2 arrives October 23.

The Punchline Academy's Lyric League Series touched down in Lexington, Kentucky, and this stop represented much more than another cypher.

The Punchline Academy Kentucky Cypher at Historic Lyric Theatre

The Punchline Academy’s Lyric League Series touched down in Lexington, Kentucky, and this stop represented much more than another cypher. This one was about bars, community, and Black music history.

For the Lexington edition, The Punchline Academy connected with Devine Carama, who helped bring together some of the city’s hungry MCs before taking the series to the historic Lyric Theatre in Lexington’s East End.

With the cameras rolling outside a building that has played an important role in the city’s Black cultural history, Lexington’s spittaz stepped up and put Kentucky lyricism on full display.

From the Chitlin’ Circuit to the Lyric League

The Lyric Theatre opened in 1948 and became an important cultural and entertainment destination for Lexington’s Black community during segregation. The venue was also part of the historic Chitlin’ Circuit, a network of clubs and theaters that provided Black entertainers with places to perform during the Jim Crow era.

Over the years, the Lyric welcomed legendary entertainers including Ray Charles, B.B. King, Count Basie, James Brown, Tina Turner, and many more.

Nearly eight decades later, hip hop added another chapter to that story.

The Punchline Academy pulled up outside the historic building with a new generation of MCs ready to represent Lexington through bars.

Devine Carama Brings Lexington Together

With Devine Carama helping assemble the lineup and an original beat produced by Da Inphamus Amadeuz setting the soundtrack, the artists went to work.

Punchlines. Wordplay. Different flows. No gimmicks.

That’s exactly what the Lyric League Series was created to showcase.

The Lexington stop also continues The Punchline Academy’s nationwide expansion, bringing its cameras directly into communities instead of waiting for artists to come to the studio.

With 100 million+ views across all platforms, the movement continues growing city by city.

But Lexington felt different.

From the Chitlin’ Circuit to the Lyric League Series, generations may have changed—but the tradition of Black music, creativity, and expression continues.

Vital Heir Continues His Rise With New EP Process

Vital Heir New EP

Vital Heir is back with a new EP titled Process, continuing a run that has quietly been building momentum in the underground hip hop scene.

The title says a lot about where Vital Heir is right now. Process feels like another step in an artist’s journey built around growth, patience, and sharpening the craft. Instead of chasing what’s popular at the moment, Vital Heir continues carving out his own space with music centered around bars and a gritty underground sound.

For listeners who have been following his releases, the new EP represents the next chapter in that progression.

Building a Strong Catalog

Vital Heir began establishing his catalog with releases including “Soon,” “Sin,” and “Money Laundering” in 2024.

Since then, he’s continued raising the level of his collaborations.

In 2025, Vital Heir connected with respected Bronx lyricist Mickey Factz for “Nice Things,” adding another strong record to his growing catalog.

He followed that up in 2026 with “Payne Is Vital” featuring RJ Payne, another heavyweight collaboration that showed Vital Heir isn’t afraid to step alongside some serious spitters. The single officially arrived March 6, 2026.

Another Step Forward

Vital Heir New EP

Those collaborations matter because they show the lane Vital Heir is building for himself. He’s surrounding his music with artists respected for lyricism while continuing to establish his own identity.

With Process, the focus now shifts back to Vital Heir and the bigger body of work.

The EP gives listeners another opportunity to hear his development beyond individual singles and collaborations. For an artist steadily putting the pieces together, the name Process couldn’t be more fitting.

Vital Heir isn’t trying to skip steps.

He’s documenting them.

And if his recent run with Mickey Factz, RJ Payne, and his growing solo catalog is any indication, Process is another important piece of what’s coming next.

The Punchline Academy Gets Its Own Mural in the Bronx

From the Airwaves to the Wall

The Punchline Academy has officially been immortalized in the Bronx with a new mural painted by graffiti artist Jaek El Diablo.

For a platform built around preserving hip hop culture, having its name represented through graffiti in the birthplace of hip hop carries a different kind of meaning. The mural connects two elements of the culture—MCing and graffiti—while marking another milestone in The Punchline Academy’s continued growth.

Created by Jaek El Diablo, the piece brings The Punchline Academy brand to life through street art, giving the platform a permanent visual presence in the Bronx.

Keeping Hip Hop Culture Connected

The Punchline Academy has officially been immortalized in the Bronx with a new mural painted by graffiti artist Jaek El Diablo.

The mural fits naturally with what The Punchline Academy has been building. Hosted by Da Inphamus Amadeuz, alongside Tone Viera and Mrz Get@Em, the Shade 45 show has grown beyond the traditional radio format through interviews, freestyles, original music, live broadcasts and its nationwide Lyric League Series.

The Lyric League concept has been especially connected to the streets. Instead of waiting for artists to enter a studio, The Punchline Academy pulls directly into neighborhoods and creates cyphers where the artists actually come from. (The Punchline Academy)

The Punchline Academy has officially been immortalized in the Bronx with a new mural painted by graffiti artist Jaek El Diablo.

100 Million Views and Growing

The Bronx mural also arrives during a major period for the platform. The Punchline Academy has surpassed 100 million views across all platforms, while continuing to expand its presence through Shade 45, digital content, live events and music. (Dain Phamus Amadeuz)

Over the years, the show has featured interviews and performances from respected names throughout hip hop while providing a bridge between legendary artists and the next generation of MCs. Its growing archive now spans interviews, freestyles, Lyric League cyphers, new music and Corner Chronicles. (Dain Phamus Amadeuz)

Now The Punchline Academy can add something else to that journey:

Its name painted on a Bronx wall.

For a platform dedicated to real hip hop, it doesn’t get much more fitting than that.

The Texas Takeover Is Official

The Punchline Academy is bringing its nationwide movement to Texas for a multi-city run packed with live radio, street cyphers, performances, and real hip hop culture.

Led by Da Inphamus Amadeuz, the Texas takeover will hit Austin, San Antonio, and Houston, continuing a summer tour that has taken the platform across the country in search of the next great spitters.

Live Shade 45 Broadcast From Austin

The run kicks off August 12 with a special LIVE broadcast of The Punchline Academy on Shade 45 from Purple Bee in the Austin area.

Instead of broadcasting from the traditional SiriusXM studio, the crew is bringing the show directly to Texas, connecting the national Shade 45 audience with the artists, energy, and culture happening on the ground.

The Punchline Academy Takes Over Texas

San Antonio to Flamingo Cantina

On Friday, August 14, The Punchline Academy heads to San Antonio for another edition of the Lyric League Series, giving local artists an opportunity to step into the cypher and represent their city.

Then it’s right back to Austin.

On Saturday, August 15, the Lyric League Series goes LIVE from Flamingo Cantina in Austin, bringing the street cypher experience into one of the city’s live music settings.

And the run just got bigger.

The Punchline Academy has officially added Houston, Texas, on Monday, August 17, for another Lyric League Series cypher. Four events. Three Texas markets. One week.

100 Million Views and Growing

The Texas takeover arrives as The Punchline Academy has surpassed 100 million views across all platforms. The Lyric League Series has already traveled through New York, Ohio, Michigan, Los Angeles, and other markets, with appearances from respected lyricists including Copywrite, Bizarre, and Kuniva.

Meanwhile, the platform continues expanding through weekly Shade 45 broadcasts, exclusive interviews and freestyles, the Left Lane Mix, original music, and live events across the country.

Now it’s Texas’ turn.

Austin. San Antonio. Houston.

The Punchline Academy Takes Over Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti With Kuniva and Detroit’s Elite Lyricists

Detroit Showed Up for the Bars

The Punchline Academy brought the Lyric League Series to one of hip hop’s most recognizable locations—Eminem’s Mom’s Spaghetti in downtown Detroit—and the city absolutely delivered.

For this special edition, Kuniva of D12 helped assemble a stacked lineup of Detroit’s finest, turning the restaurant into the backdrop for one of the most memorable cyphers of the tour. With a crowd gathering around and cameras rolling, the artists wasted no time proving why Detroit remains one of hip hop’s strongest lyrical cities.
From the first verse to the final bar, every emcee came with something to prove.

Kuniva Brings the City Together

A major reason this cypher came together was Kuniva, one of the founding members of the legendary group D12. After helping put Detroit on the global hip hop map alongside Eminem, Proof, Bizarre, Swifty McVay, and Mr. Porter, Kuniva has continued to represent the city through solo projects, collaborations, and by supporting the next generation of artists.
Known for his sharp lyricism, consistency, and longevity, Kuniva remains one of Detroit’s most respected voices. His involvement in the Lyric League Series brought authenticity to the event while creating an opportunity for local talent to showcase their skills on a national platform.

A Cypher to Remember

The lineup featured a collection of hungry lyricists, including Guilty Simpson, Quest Mcody, Hush, and several of Detroit’s rising spitters, creating a cypher packed with heavyweight bars and unforgettable moments. The energy throughout the session reflected everything that makes Detroit hip hop special—competitive, authentic, and deeply rooted in lyricism.

The Movement Keeps Growing

The Detroit takeover is another major stop on The Punchline Academy’s nationwide Lyric League Series Tour, which continues bringing the radio to the streets one city at a time.
With more than 100 million views across all platforms, The Punchline Academy continues to spotlight legendary artists, rising talent, and the communities that keep hip hop culture alive.

Real bars. Legendary locations. One unforgettable Detroit moment.
